Dorothy "Dort" J. Hibberd April 29, 1921 May 14, 2009 Dorothy "Dort" J. Hibberd, 88, of Impalla Drive in Niles, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles. Dort was born on April 29, 1921 to the late John and Mary (Vertacnick) Balog. She was one of 12 children growing up in the Balog household. On July 1, 1939 Dort wed the love of her life, William K. Hibberd, at a ceremony in Niles. Together they had 3 wonderful sons. Dort retired from the Simplicity Pattern Company in 1980 after 30 years of dedicated service. Dort was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Niles. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William "Bill", infant son Bill Hibbard Jr. and several siblings. Dort is survived by her Sons Gary (Donna Barr) Hibberd of St. Joseph, Michigan and Gene Hibberd of Oxnard, California, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, Sisters Elizabeth Rayburn of Pensacola, Florida and Josephine Syson of Walkerville, Michigan and Brother Gerald (Francis) Balog of Niles, Michigan. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel located at 61453 M-51 North in Niles from 6-8 with services to honor Dort's life on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1107 North Red Bud Trail in Buchanan at 11am. Memorial donations may be made in Dort's memory to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses; 603 North 17th Street; Niles, Michigan.
