Robert Thomas, 90, of Cassopolis, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in Niles on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
Robert was born on November 29, 1926, to the late Clifford and Vanhrie (Manley) Thomas in Portland, Indiana. Robert enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. After his discharge from the Navy Robert became a barber and eventually opened his own shop, Stateline Barber Shop, which he operated until he was 83 years old. On October 21, 1947, Robert wed Ethel "Sally" Roberts at a ceremony in Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally; and brothers, Clifford Thomas and Daniel Thomas.
Robert is survived by his children, Shari (John) Bradke of Cassopolis and William (Judy) Thomas of Granger; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way; sisters, Jenny Johnson of Niles and Patricia Dokey of Niles; and many extended family members and close friends.
Robert's family will be hosting a celebration of life luncheon on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Pokagon United Methodist Church at noon.
