Obituary of Charles Sager

Charles Sager, 83, of Eagle Street in Niles passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles. Charles was a resident of Riveridge Manor for 2 years. Charles was born on March 5, 1926 to the late George and Hildur (Johnson) Sager in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. After his junior year of high school Charles was drafted in to the United States Army where he proudly served his country. After his tour was over Charles went straight back to high school and finished his senior year. After school Charles wed Bettie Lee on September 21, 1956 in South Bend, Indiana. Charles retired from Bendix after 18 years of dedicated services. He was a member of the 28th Division Heritage Association and after he retired Charles and Bettie would travel to army reunions. When Charles wasn't working or traveling he could be found at home working on cars or enjoying music. He is preceded in death by his parents. Charles is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years Bettie, children Steven (Lisa) Sager of College Grove, Tennessee and Sandra Sager of Niles and grandchildren Steven and Leslie Sager. Funeral services to honor Charles' life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles with a time of visitation one hour prior. Jack Van Arsdall will be officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
