Marian E. (Charlson) Edquist March 26, 1916 September 3, 2009 Marian E. Edquist, 93, of La Porte, Indiana, formerly of Chesterton, Indiana passed away at La Porte Regional Health System, following a lengthy illness. Marian was born on March 26, 1916 to the late Nels Peter Victor and Anna (Wistrand) Charlson in Porter, Indiana. She was one of 7 children raised in the Charlson family. After graduating as the Salutatorian from Chesterton High School in 1934 Marian went on to graduate from Gary Business College. On October 20, 1938 Marian wed the late Evar Edquist at the Augsburg Lutheran Church in Porter Indiana. Together they had 4 children. Marian worked as a legal secretary and office manager for several local businesses in Chesterton and retired from Elgin-Honey Hill Corporation where she was an office manager. Along with being a very active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton for many years Marian volunteered at Porter Memorial Hospital for 20 years, served on the board of directors for Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles, Michigan since 1985 and also was a member of a local Pinochle Club and also the Jacks and Janes Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Evar in 1970, daughter Cynthia Marimon in 1996, infant son Vincent Edquist, brothers; Vincent, Alvin and Vernon Charlson, sisters; Elvera Peterson, Eleanor Benson and Edith Martinson and a grandson Mark Marimon. Marian is survived by her sons Bert (Carol) Edquist of South Bend, Indiana and Dr. Daniel (Janice) Edquist of La Porte, Indiana, son-in-law John Marimon of Valparaiso and grandchildren; Jill Malings of Carmel, Indiana, Eric Marimon of Valparaiso, Indiana, Timothy Edquist of Denver, Colorado, Christopher (Leah) Edquist of Chicago, Illinois, Benjamin Edquist Lafayette, Indiana, Kelly Edquist of Indianapolis, Indiana, Nicholas Edquist of La Porte, Indiana, Nathaniel Edquist of La Porte, Indiana and Kaitlin Edquist of La Porte, Indiana. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 5-9 pm at the White-Love Funeral Home in Chesterton, Indiana located at 525 South 2nd Street. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 1 pm, with visitation one hour prior, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church 2050 W 1100 N., in Chesterton, Indiana. Rev. Jane Aicher, D. Min. will be officiating the services and Marian will be interred at the Chesterton Cemetery.
