Elizabeth J. "Bette" (McCausland) Eller, 91, of Berrien Center, formerly of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center, following an extended illness. She was born on August 5, 1918 in Rockford, Illinois to the late Harry and Irene (Dame) McCausland. Bette was married to Philip Rotzien Sr. who passed away in 1959. After raising two sons, she married Harold Eller who also preceded her in death. She worked for many years as a secretary for Electrovoice in Buchanan and was a retired secretary for the Buchanan and Elkhart Schools. Bette was a member of the Buchanan Moose Lodge, the American Legion and First United Methodist Church in Buchanan for many years. She also enjoyed coaching girl's softball in Buchanan. Bette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Philip and husband Harold and a brother Harry McCausland. She is survived by two sons Edward (Diann) Rotzien of Niles and Philip (Julie) Rotzien of Paw Paw, three grandchildren; Paige (Brad) Piedt of Benton Harbor, Jason (Lisa) Rotzien of Niles and Jared (Allison) Rotzien of Idaho and a great-grandchild Kaitlan Rotzien of Niles, a brother Bob (Roxie) McCausland of Lakeville, Indiana, three nieces and a nephew.
