I am your dad's first cousin and although I have never met you, I feel I know you through the stories and photos your grandmother, Mary, shared with my family when she would come to Massachusetts to visit her sister Ruth each summer. When she was here in September, she proudly showed us photos of you and Daniel and told us all about your wedding. He sure sounded like a great guy.
Again, my prayers and thoughts are with you. We owe such a debt of gratitude to Daniel and all members of our armed forces for all they sacrifice to allow us to live free. May he rest in peace. Craig Murray

My wife, Lauri, and I had Dan in class, both serving as his teacher. Dan came to class every day with a smile and would ask, "what are we doing today,?" with a signature grin. We are so saddened to hear of Dan's passing. We remember Dan as being a caring person. Our thoughts are with Dan's family. Dan was also in Environmental Club in high school and helped with recycling and road clean-up. These were events he volunteered for during his own time - not as a classroom requirement. That was Dan's altruistic nature. From what I have read in the paper and seen on the news this was how Dan treated fellow soliders in the Army, with caring and concern. He will be missed.

To all of Daniel's Family,
We would like to extend our condolences to all of you for your loss.
What he became is a reflection of you, the schools he attended, the community he grew up in and the military training he received. We ask that you always take pride in the fact that you raised him from an infant, to a young man who will be remembered as a hero.
To his young wife, I would say cherish your time and the memories that you made together. Take comfort in the love that you two shared. For true love that is shared even briefly, is a gift from God.
