Charleen May Kellogg, 77, of Niles passed away gently on December 9, 2009 surrounded by her husband and children. Charleen was born on May 13, 1932 in Kensington, Kansas to the late Ernest and Laura (Ely) Reneberg. She was one of two children growing up in the Reneberg household. Charleen lived most of her life in Hartford, Michigan. Charleen received her B.A. from Michigan State University and her M.A. as a reading specialist from Western Michigan University. Charleen was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles and was always active in the church, school and hospital settings. Her joy for life and wonderment in nature were a reminder to us all to cherish each day. Her faith and outreaching love touched many. Her prayer list of over 120 people was a constant in her day. Her family was blessed to have her in their lives. She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Laura and sister-in-law Carolyn Reneberg. Charleen is survived by her devoted husband, of 56 years, Schuyler, children Karen Kellogg of Niles, Michigan, Mark (Leane) Kellogg of Niles, Michigan and Christopher (David Venne) Kellogg of Grand Rapids, Michigan and a brother Jerrel Reneberg of Cassopolis, Michigan. She was also a loving grandmother to Megan (Neil) Bahbah, Norman Kellogg and Gina Kellogg and has one great-grandson Jake Bahbah. In keeping with Charleen's wishes a private memorial service will take place. Donations may be made in Charleen's memory to Wesley United Methodist Church located at 302 Cedar Street, Niles, Michigan 49120.
