Obituary of Garnet Marie Halligan
Please share a memory of Garnet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Garnet Marie Halligan, 81 left this world peacefully to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on December 22, 2009.
She was born on January 26, 1928 in Flint, Michigan to the late Richard and Garnet (Bishop) Barbier. On September 27, 1947 she wed Edward T. Halligan at a ceremony in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan.
Garnet's presence was always felt in her community. She impacted and touched many lives. She volunteered in Roscommon with many groups but one of her passions was helping with developmentally disabled adults. She was also a member of the VFW, the American Legion, The Knights of Columbus, and St. Helen's Catholic Church. Garnet was even more a part of her children's' lives, and her children always knew she wanted more for them than she ever could have had. Her children fondly remember that after they had all grown and moved out of the home Garnet and Edward fell completely in love all over again. Her life was truly an inspiration and example to all who knew her.
Preceding Garnet were her husband, her parents, and two sons; Edward Halligan, Jr. and Terry Halligan.
Surviving Garnet are her two daughters; Yvonne (Brian Bebout) Halligan of Burton, Michigan and Suzanne (Michele Sanders) Halligan of South Bend, Indiana, grandchildren Maria Agers, Karl Smith, Latoya Smith, Timeka Bailey, Angelena Bebout, Brianna Bebout, and one great-grandson, Elijah Shelton.
A memorial service will take place at St. Helen's Catholic Church, St. Helen, MI on May 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM. .
