Obituary of Mabel Lorene Turney

Mabel Lorene (Klutts) Turney, 82, of Benton Harbor, passed away on January 16, 2010 at her residence. She was born on July 24, 1927 in Truman, Arkansas to the late Paul and Ethel (Evans) Klutts. On August 16, 1949 she married Sam Turney at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana. Mabel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam Turney and a sister Kay Billman. Mabel was retired from Lake Michigan College where she worked as a secretary for many years. She was a gifted artist enjoying painting, writing poetry and stories and crocheting. Mabel also was a talented gardener and an avid reader. Mabel's greatest passion was her family. She loved raising her children and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by five sons; Dave (Rose) Turney of Niles, Robert Turney of Ohio, James Turney of Howe, Texas, Tom(Sandy)Turney of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Dennis Turney of Ohio, three daughters; Karen (Mike) Najacht, Deb (Tom) Taylor both of Berrien Springs, and Jan (Bob) Medders of Denison, Texas, fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers; Frank Klutts of Florida and Paul (Novella) Klutts of Stevensville, four sisters; Ruby Adams of Baroda, Virginia "Willie" (Arthur) Zielke of Alabama and Shirley Klutts of Berrien Springs and Charlotte (Nhim) Danh of Illinois.
