Obituary of John Lewis Alcala

John Lewis Alcala, 59, of Buchanan, passed away unexpectedly, but of natural causes, on June 13, 2017 at his home.
He was born in St. Joseph, Michigan to Porfirio and Lizzy Alcala on August 20, 1957.
Upon graduating from high school, John promptly left to serve his county proudly as a United States Marines.
John loved spending time outdoors, doing anything at all. He particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was also a very talented woodcrafter and always enjoyed working with his hands.
He is preceded by his mother, Lizzy Alcala.
John is survived by his father, Porfirio Alcala of Texas, his daughter, Kasondra (Brent Ruff) Alkire of Niles; his grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, and Chloie. He is also survived by his siblings, Sheila (Greg) Alcala-McCoy and Tony (Lauren) Alcala both of Stevensville, nieces, Jennifer and Samantha and a nephew, Joshua as well as great-niece, Trinity and great-nephew, Eli.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 51, beginning with military honors.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honor of John may do so to the American Legion Post 51, 403 East Front Street, Buchanan, MI 49107.
