Ruby Williams, 75, of Benton Harbor, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 19, 2010 with her family by her side. Ruby was born on October 17, 1934 to the late Ben and Arrana (Hatchet) Donald in Wyatt, Missouri. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, married Arthur Cannon Sr. and together they had 8 children. Later she wed Edgar Williams. Ruby, or "Shorty" as most knew her, has been a member of the Church of God in Christ body for her entire lifetime, but a member of SVC for the past 3 years. After Ruby could no longer attend church Pastor Thompson brought church to her. If you couldn't find Ruby at work she was probably traveling. Ruby was always known for helping everyone in her life. She went to school for nursing and worked for Hospice at Home until she could no longer work. Ruby was always doing for others, especially her children, grandchildren and other family, she put them before herself. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Edward Cannon, grandchildren Arthur Lewis, Eric Cannon Jr. and siblings Ruth Atterberry, Mary Mayes, Beulah Mayes, Maggie Mayes, Queen Ester Leach, Viola Griffin, Leola Green and Betty Cornelius. Ruby is survived by her husband Edgar, children Arthur (Jennifer) Cannon Jr. of Benton Harbor, Jessie (Mary) Cannon of Redlands, California, Eric (Marva) Cannon of Perry, Georgia, Karen Watkins of Benton Harbor, Craig (Renee) Cannon of Las Vegas, Nevada, Daryl Cannon of Benton Harbor, Ronald Cannon of Chino, California, grandchildren Edward Cannon Jr., Renee Lewis, Tameka Baker, Jessie Cannon Jr., Shatayia Baker, Vania Cannon, Lavile Cannon, Matisha Cannon, Terrence Cannon, Shandaligwa (Mark) Atterberry, Daryl Cannon, Jr., 22 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, siblings Izah Mayes of Chicago, Illinois, Rachael Ross of Benton Harbor and many other loving family members and friends. Memorial donations may be made in Ruby's memory to Hospice at Home located at 4025 Health Park Lane in St. Joseph, Michigan 49085. A memorial service, to honor the great life Ruby lived, will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Niles at 1 O'clock in the afternoon. Pastor Elijah Thompson III from Spiritual Vision Church of God and Christ in Niles will be officiating.
