Richard Smith, 85, of Niles, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 with his wife by his side.
Richard was born on August 29, 1924 to the late William and Lucille (Slagle) Smith.
After high school Richard went in to the United States Navy and on June 12, 1949 Richard wed the love of his life, Lou Ann Minniear at a ceremony in Peru Indiana. Together they had 2 sons.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons Scott Smith and Jared Smith.
Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lou Ann, sons Dave (Christine) Smith of South Bend, Indiana, Gregg Smith of Mishawaka, Indiana 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Those wishing to make memorial donations to honor Richard may do so to Hospice at Home located at 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 2-4 in the afternoon with a service to honor Richard's life at 4 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
