Obituary of Darlene Gilpin

Darlene May (VanOrman) Gilpin January 16, 1943 August 22, 2010 Darlene May Gilpin, 67, of Rex Court in Niles passed away at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan on August 22, 2010. Darlene was born on January 16, 1943 to the late Carlton Eugene and Mildred (Evans) VanOrman in Niles, Michigan. Darlene was one of six children in the VanOrman household. Darlene wed Oscar Paul Gilpin Jr. in 1959. Though they divorced Darlene and Oscar remained friends. Together they had four children. Darlene loved to spend time with her family, traveling to see them and most recently moving home to Michigan to be with her immediate family. She loved to karaoke and bake cakes, especially wedding cakes. She is preceded in death by her parents. Darlene is survived by her four sons Paul (Jona) Gilpin of Niles, Michigan, Doug Gilpin of Knoxville, Tennessee, Rick Gilpin of East Hampton, New York, Todd Gilpin of Niles, Michigan, grandsons Michael (Kate) Gilpin of Niles, Michigan, Brett (Pandrha Phegley) Gilpin of Niles, Michigan, one great-granddaughter on the way, sisters Judy Neucks of Niles, Michigan, Billie Jean Lenz of Niles, Michigan and brothers Carlton "Jack" (Karol) VanOrman of Pokagon, Michigan, Duane VanOrman of Kempoer, Texas and Jerry (Sally) VanOrman of Niles, Michigan. In keeping with Darlene's wishes, has been cremated and the family will be remembering her privately. Memorial donations may be made in Darlene's memory to the American Diabetes Association located at P.O. Box 11454; Alexandria, VA 22312.
