Obituary of Janice Lee Shearer

Janice Lee (Davis) Shearer, 72, of Platt Street in Niles, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 19, 2010 with her family by her side. Janice was born on February 3, 1938 to Lloyd and Germaine (Roelandts) Davis in Niles, Michigan. She was one of two children in the Davis household. Janice attended Niles High School where she met Franklin "Frank" Shearer. After dating all through high school Janice wed the love of her life at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Niles on March 19, 1958. Together they had 2 wonderful sons; Tim and Randy. In 1956 Janice was voted Miss Niles. Her number one love in life was her family, especially her two sons and their children. Janice was a homemaker most of her life and loved making/selling soy candles and doing hair, she owned and operated Jan's Beauty Shop in Niles for over 10 years; she also worked as a clerk for the Four Flags Antique Shop. She is preceded in death by her father, husband of 52 years, Frank. Jan is survived by her mother Germaine Davis-Pletcher, sons Tim (Wendy) Shearer of Niles, Michigan and Randy (Julie) Shearer of Avon, Indiana, eight grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and brother Terry (Rozella) Davis of Niles. A memorial service to honor Jan's life will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor Dan Miller will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Janice's memory to Hospice at Home, Inc. located at 4025 Health Park Lane; St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
