Richard "Rick" N. Sumner, 52, passed away unexpectedly but of natural causes in the early hours of Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Rick was born on November 20, 1957 to the late Norman and Rose (Steiner) Sumner in Wyndotte, Michigan. Rick was one of three children growing up in the Sumner household. In 2008 Rick began working at Pilkington factory in Niles and on January 29, 2009 Rick wed Cynthia "Cindy" (Richer) Boller. Rick is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Cindy Sumner, children Jenna (Chris) Wright of Newark, Ohio, Richard B. (Brandi) Sumner of Dowagiac, Michigan, Chris Blatt of Niles, Michigan, Adam Blatt of Port Huron, Michigan, Timothy Turnbo II of Niles, Michigan, Tasha Davis of Niles, Michigan, 11 grandchildren and siblings David Sumner of Port Huron, Michigan and Sandra Payne of River Rouge, Michigan. Rick's family will be holding a gathering of family and close friends but there will be no public services. Those wishing to make memorial donations may do so in Rick's memory to the Shriner's who have helped Rick and his family in a previous time of need.
