Obituary of Frank J. Nanasy

Frank J. Nanasy, 84, of Dowagiac, passed away at Lakeland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, following an illness. He was born in Perry, Michigan on February 23, 1933 to the late George and Elizabeth (Mitro) Nanasy. On November 5, 1960 Frank married Shirley Lee Stockwell at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan. Frank worked as a foreman for several companies in the Dowagiac area for many years before his retirement in 1995. Frank enjoyed bowling, working in his bicycle shop, building and fixing many different things. He coached little league baseball and liked spending time on his Harley Davidson. He always loved his pets and time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; George, Charlie, Andy, Steve, Bill and John Nanasy. Frank is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Nanasy of Dowagiac, a daughter, Dixie (Chuck) Long of Dowagiac, two grandchildren, Phillip (Jamie) Long and Maegan Long, two great-grandchildren, Aila and Auggie, as well as a brother, Joe Nanasy and sisters; Helen Nanasy and Elizabeth Rugg. A graveside service will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
