Obituary of Doyce Ann Gard-Brooks

Doyce Ann Gard-Brooks, 76, of Dowagiac, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 29, 2017, following an illness. She was born on August 9, 1940 in Dowagiac, Michigan to the late Edward and Vesta (Clark) McDaniel. She worked for Rudy's/Sunstrand for many years prior to her retirement. She also owned and operated The Hobbie Hut, a ceramic shop, for over thirty years. She enjoyed creating unique ceramic items as well as teaching others. She also found pleasure in cross stitch, cake decorating and traveling, especially to Disney, casinos and on cruises. Doyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordy Brooks. She is survived by a son, Ed Gard (Rose Keene) of Niles, two daughters, Julie Willis of Dowagiac and Vickie (Jack) Wood of Dowagiac, her four-legged daughter, Lucy, four granddaughters; Abbie (Tim) Feirick of Dowagiac, Amy (Jenny) McDaniels of Plainfield, Illinois, Katie (Josh) Cross of Dowagiac and Shelby (Nicole) Willis of Marcellus, five great-grandsons; Justin Feirick, Tyler Feirick, Jackson Cross, Jayden McDaniels and Jace McDaniels and a sister, Nancy Longway of Dowagiac. In keeping with Doyce's wishes, she will be laid to rest at a private family service at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
