Jerry Cook, 61, of St. Joseph, Michigan passed away at his residence on December 11, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born on September 11, 1949 in Tyronza, Arkansas to the late Sam and Gladys (Hurst) Cook. On December 11, 1971 he married the love of his life Judy (LaViolette) Cook at a ceremony in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents and a beloved sister, Jacqueline Proffer. Jerry is survived by his wife, son, Ryan Cook of Breckenridge, Colorado, daughter, Tara (David) Holland of Seattle, Washington, and his brother Sam (Lois) Cook of Watervliet, Michigan. He is also survived by his best friends and nephews, Sam Cook, Jr. of Berrien Springs, Michigan and Ted Proffer of Lawrence Michigan, and a special nephew, Cliff Proffer, of Winterville, Georgia. Jerry retired from Oven Fresh/Sara Lee Bakery after 30 years of route sales and delivery. He most recently was employed as a bus driver for Lakeshore Schools where he was known as "Mr. Cookie". In keeping with Jerry's wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will take place at a later time at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan.
