Obituary of Lester Walter Guthrie

Lester Walter Guthrie Sr. 83, of Berrien Center, passed away on December 17, 2010 at his residence. Lester was born on December 13, 1927 in Nellyville, Missouri to the late William and Ruby (McCollum) Guthrie. He married the love of his life, Viola "Katie" (Morrison) Guthrie on March 3, 1948 at a ceremony in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lester is survived by a son, Lester "Bud" Jr. (Diana) Guthrie of Coloma, Michigan, a daughter, Ruby (Ronald) Pettenger of Petoskey, Michigan, 5 grandchildren, Becky S. Pettenger, Krisy Pettenger, Jonathon Guthrie, Stephanie Brinkman, Kara M Guthrie, step grandson Joshua (Laura) Bachman, and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Ashley Pettenger and Gabriella Forbes, 5 brothers, Robert Guthrie of Moro, Illinois, William (Sandy) Guthrie of Gans, Oklahoma, Paul (Lilly) Richard of Tall brook, California, David (Phyllis) Guthrie of Naylor, Missouri, Johnny (Brenda) Guthrie of Parsons, Tennessee, and 1 sister Mary Ann Shepard of Donavan, Missouri. Services for Lester will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with a time of visitation one hour prior. In keeping with Lester's wishes the family would like those attending to dress casual. Memorial contributions may be made to Berrien County 4 H youth development; 1737 Hillandale Rd.
