Obituary of Michael George Mais

Michael George Mais, 67, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, October 19 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, surrounded by his family. Michael was born to the union of Ralph and Ethel (Heinz) Mais on February 4, 1946 in Long Island, New York. After graduating from Fork Union Military Academy, Michael enlisted in the US Army. On July 13, 1980 Michael married Maude "Dolly" G. Temari at a ceremony in Brooklyn, New York. He was a computer programmer for many years and recently retired as Vice President of Networking at Gemeinhardt Industries in Elkhart. Michael was an outdoor enthusiast, from camping, to hiking, or even his rose garden where he spent many hours tending to them. He devoted many years in boy scouts and as a scout master. Spending time with his family was his greatest passion. One trip in particular was especially memorable; the family traveled together out west to Yellowstone National Park where they whitewater rafted and dined at Yellowstone Inn for dinner. He was also a member of the Freemasons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ethel Mais and a brother Ronald P. Mais. Michael is survived by his wife Maude "Dolly" G. Mais of Niles, two sons R. George Mais III of Niles and Peter George Fauster (Becca) Mais of Los Angeles, California, twin granddaughters Varrah and Veronique Mais also of Los Angeles California. A memorial service was held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles and interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on March 27th at at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory Fork Union Military Academy 4744 James Madison Hwy, Fork Union, Virginia 23055.
