Obituary of Lucinda Suran
Please share a memory of Lucinda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lucinda "Cindy" Suran, 94, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Timbers Nursing Home in Dowagiac.
She was born in Chrisman, Illinois to the late William and Anna (Dorsett) Dunn on June 16, 1916.
Cindy moved to South Bend in 1930. On October 3, 1931 she married her beloved husband, Ed, at the First Baptist Church in South Bend and lived in South Bend for 59 years before moving to Little Smith Lake, Dowagiac, Michigan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 12 brothers and sisters.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Robert Suran of Decatur, Alabama, Dar (Marsca) Suran of Dowagiac and Pat (Harry) Winters of Granger. Surviving also are her grandchildren Darren Suran of New Jersey, Tim Winters of Niles, Melissa (Doug) Richards of South Bend and Sarah (Eric) Johnson of Farmington, Minnesota. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Jaime and Jillian Richards, Jace and Allison Johnson. She also will be missed by her great niece, Mary Kay Reidenbach of Grand Rapids and great nephew Bill Rothballer of Louisville, Kentucky.
After Ed's retirement, Cindy and Ed wintered in Kissimmee, Florida for 25 years. Cindy and Ed were members of Berrien Center Bible Church in Berrien Center, Michigan. Cindy was very active in the Sonshine Helpers (Helping Hands) at church until her eyesight no longer permitted it. She loved to read and crochet and she crocheted many afghans and baby blankets. Cindy also belonged to T.O.P.S. until she reached her goal. Cindy and Ed truly loved the Lord and always started their day with devotions, praying and reading the Bible together.
We want to give a special thank you to the staff at West Woods of Niles, and The Timbers in Dowagiac where Cindy spent her last year in their tender care.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to Berrien Center Bible Church, 8830 M-140, P. O. Box 67, Berrien Center, Michigan 49120.
