Obituary of Emma Ruth Jackson

Emma Ruth (Serratt) Jackson, 79, of Niles, passed away at Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in South Bend, on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Emma was born on February 26, 1931 to the late Lon and Alice (Viar) Serratt in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was one of eight children in the Serratt household. Emma wed Walter Jackson at a ceremony on December 22, 1945 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Together they had seven children. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, daughter Laura Jackson, son Edward Jackson, brother George Serratt and sisters Dora Simpson and Martha Essary. Emma is survived by her children Michael Jackson of Mishawaka, Indiana, Debra Luke of Dewy, Oklahoma, Ruth Bierle of Niles, Michigan, Walter "J" (Dee) Jackson of Niles, Conrad (Betty) Jackson of New Burn, Tehhessee, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, brothers Walter (Phyllis) Serratt of Dowagiac, Michigan, Nathan (Cindy) Serratt of Kankakee, Illinois, Lonnie (Peggy) Serratt of Dresdon, Tennessee and sister Peggy Regan of Dyersburg, Tennessee. Emma has been cremated and a memorial service will take place in the spring.
