Obituary of Lena Frances Pace

Lena Frances Pace, 78, of Edwardsburg, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. She was born on March 17, 1939 in Booneville, Mississippi to the late Levi Floyd and Lila M. (Kennedy) Hunkapillar. Lena Frances married Billie Hugh Pace and to that union was born three sons. A homemaker most of her life, Lena enjoyed gardening and canning. She cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a mother of the neighborhood and always attended her boys' sporting events. She was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church in Edwardsburg and a member of the Red Hat Society. She is preceded in death by her husband Billie Hugh Pace, her son Henry Floyd Pace and two brothers, Randal and Robert Hunkapillar and two sisters, Virginia Pruitt and Doris Rutherford. Lena is survived by her two sons, Mike (Lisa) Pace of Plymouth and Marty (Betty) Pace of Edwardsburg, Daughter in law Lynda (Henry) Bush, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Noon at Brown Funeral Home with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. An interment will be held at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Niles. Memorial contributions may be made in Lena's memory to the American Kidney Foundation.
