Obituary of Samuel Mize

Samuel L. Mize, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday October 22. 2013 at Lakeland Hospital of St. Joseph with his family by his side. He was born to the late Gamez and Nellie (Clark) Mize in Hoopeston, Illinois on September 16, 1939. He was married to Sue Fisher (1st wife) in 1957, they later divorced, and she currently lives in Boswell Indiana. He married Sharon Ann Copeland who passed in 1992. He later married Kimberly (White) who passed away in 2002. Samuel was a very private and quiet man who enjoyed passing time on his boat upon Lake Michigan. Always friendly, he never met a stranger. Shortly after meeting someone, Samuel could strike up a conversation with anyone and they parted as friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Sharon, and his second wife Kimberly. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Samuel is survived by his five sons; Brian (Amy) Mize of Olathe, Kansas, Rodney Frederick of Terre Haute, Indiana, Curt (Chantel) Mize of Logansport, Indiana, Harold Mize of Lafayette, Indiana, and Kevin Mize of Benton Harbor, his two daughters, Felicia (Terry) Shaffer of Paris, Illinois and Debbie (Jim) Moyars of West Lafayette, Indiana. He will also be missed by his eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and his three sisters.
