Obituary of Ronald L. Finney

Ronald L. Finney, 89, of Battle Creek, passed away at Glenn Arbor Hospice in Battle Creek, surrounded by his loving wife and family, on Friday, July 7, 2017. He was born on September 10, 1927 in Battle Creek to the late Heman L. and Gwendolyn (Crouch) Finney. Ron lived in Battle Creek most of his life. He served his country proudly, enlisting in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist for Eaton Corporation for over thirty years and in the maintenance department at McCamly Place; He was a gifted carpenter as well. He married Ruby Imogene Chadwick at a ceremony in Battle Creek on June 8, 1990. Ron enjoyed reading, watching westerns, spending time outdoors and was known to be able to fix anything. He is preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his wife, Ruby Finney of Battle Creek, his children; LaRita (Jim) Pena of Battle Creek, Laura (Scott) Ginnebaugh of Battle Creek and Harold (Jolene) Finney of Delton, his step-children; Sharon Powell of Battle Creek, Carolyn (Bruce) Brown of Battle Creek and Larry (Ann) Chadwick of Alabama, twenty grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and a brother, Charles (Rita) Finney of Battle Creek. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10:30 am at Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made in Ronald's memory to Overflow Church, 3515 W. Michigan Ave, Battle Creek, Michigan 49017 or to the American Cancer Society.
