Obituary of Barbara Ann Opfer

Barbara Ann (Brodie) Opfer, 84, of Niles passed away at Lakeland Hospital in Niles on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Barbara was born on November 25, 1926 to the late John and Dola (Keach) Brodie. She was one of four children. On December 2, 1950 she wed Fredrick Opfer at a ceremony in Niles, together they had nine children. Barbara has been cremated and a memorial service will be held later this summer to honor her long life. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fredrick, sons Paul and Dennis Opfer and siblings Annette Blais, Marilyn Shackleford and John Brodie Jr. Barbara is survived by her children Otto (Jackie) Opfer of Milwaukee, Oregon, Deborah (Don) Sparks of Niles, Michigan, Mark (Marlene) Opfer of Decatur, Michigan, Barbara (Tony) Shepherd of Niles, Michigan, Tina Opfer of Niles, Michigan, George (Myra) Opfer of Three Rivers, Michigan and Denise (Alfred Flatt) Opfer of Niles, Michigan, along with 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
