Obituary of David Frank Boyd

David Boyd, 52, of Niles, passed away on June 26, 2011 at the University of Michigan Health Systems in Ann Arbor with his wife by his side. David was born on July 18, 1958 in Hollywood, Florida to Jack and Norma (Ramier) Boyd, he was one of four children growing up in the Boyd household. In 1977 David graduated from Niles High School where he played the trombone in the marching band. David proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy where he received the following commendations; Meritorious Unit Commendation, Third Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon. After he retired from the U.S. Navy he worked as an electricial contractor for 12 years. When David wasn't working he could be found rooting for the University of Michigan, teaching AWANA'S at the church or volunteering to help out anyone who needed it. He loved spending time with his family, especially Rhonda who was his high school sweetheart. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Boyd, son David Boyd and step father Bill Coquillard. David is survived by his wife, Rhonda (Proud-Norris) Boyd of Niles, Michigan, mother Norma (Ramier) Coquillard of Niles, children Joseph Boyd, Ashleigh (Jamie) Boyd and Laura Boyd, all of Scottland, step sons Mikael Norris of Mansfield, Texas and Shaun Norris of Niles, one grandson J.J. and siblings Joseph (Debbie) Boyd of Niles, Dan (Elaine) Boyd of Novi, Michigan, George (Linda) Boyd of Niles, Step-Siblings Bill (Sue) Coquillard of Niles, Kenny (Betty) Coquillard of Niles, James Coquillard, David Coquillard of South Bend, Indiana, Mary Lynn (David) Moore of Niles and Eddie (Dawn) Coquillard of Niles. A service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church in Niles at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Pierman officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's memory to the Youth Group of Bethel Baptist Church or Gideon's International.
