Obituary of Gary Lynn Low

Gary L. Low, 68, of Niles passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 12, 2011 at Lakeland Hospital of Niles. He was born to Francis and Vivian (Grafford) Low on July 30, 1943 in Niles, Michigan. A lifelong resident of Niles, Gary graduated from Niles High School. He then served his country proudly in the United States Navy and then returned to Niles to settle and raise his family. On March 26, 1965, after a short courtship, Gary wed Suzanne Stowe at the First Presbyterian Church of Niles. Gary loved nature and being outdoors. In his earlier years he enjoyed camping with his family and fishing with his sons. Later on in life Gary began woodworking and painting. Always a "MacGyver" kind of guy he was known for his many inventions. He took great pride in taking care and providing for his family. A hopeless romantic, Gary often left poetry, flowers, or other sweet sentiments to remind his wife of his love and passion for her. To his sons, he was steadfast; he was a man full of integrity. Gary left a legacy to his children to live life with no regrets, to work hard and be proud of the work that you were doing; to always give your all. Gary was preceding in death by his father, Francis Low and his mother's second husband, Gene Coyer. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, his three sons; Steven (Teresa) Low of South Bend, Richard (Christy) Low of Niles, and Christopher (Jeanette Page) Low of South Bend, his mother Vivian Low-Coyer of Niles, and his brother Terry (Kathy) Low of Georgia. Gary is also survived by his five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his two cats, Queenie and Cindy.
