Obituary of Joyce Maxine Pierce

Joyce M. (Bailey) Pierce, 79, of Niles, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Saturday morning, August 20th, 2011 at Riverridge Manor in Niles. She was born on December 9, 1931 in Sledge, Mississippi to the late David and Wordie (Jenkins)Bailey. On October 15, 1955 Joyce married Lyle Pierce at a ceremony in Cassopolis, Michigan. A homemaker most of her life, Joyce was a true homemaker and was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Niles. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers E.P. "Buddy" Bailey and Roy Bailey. Joyce is survived by her husband Lyle of Niles, two sons Roger (Anne) Pierce of Granger and Larry Pierce of South Bend, three grandchildren; Alex (Sunnshyne) Pierce of Elkhart, Jared Pierce and Sabrina Pierce both of Granger, a great-granddaughter Brooklynn Pierce of Elkhart, three brothers James (June) Bailey of Winder, Georgia, Bill Bailey of Mishawaka and Bob (Doris) Bailey of Texas. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10:00 am with Pastor Brad Lomax officiating. An interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.
