Obituary of Peggy Jo Cottrell

Peggy Cottrell, 48, of Danville, Illinois and previously of Buchanan, Michigan passed away at University of Chicago Medical Center on Friday, August 26, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Peggy was born on December 15, 1962 to Edward and Beverly (Sharp) Cottrell in Niles, Michigan. She was the youngest of four children in the Cottrell household. Peggy worked at Village Garden Restaurant for over 13 years; she made some of her best friends working there. Together with her friends and family she enjoyed watching college football, especially Notre Dame and NASCAR where she always rooted on her "Superman" Jimmy Johnson. When she was younger Peggy even showed the family dog, "Candy", with 4H and was the Grand Champion at the Berrien County Youth Fair. Peggy has gone to heaven where she will meet her grandma Eleanor Sharp and niece Michelle Erin Lamb. Peggy is survived by her parents, Ed and Beverly, children Craig Blackwell of Buchanan, Michigan, Chris (Sarah) Blackwell of Danville, Illinois and Karen Blackwell of Danville, granddaughter Aleena Ledesma, siblings Pam (Mike) Obenland of Danville, Pattie Cottrell of Niles and Ed (Edna) Cottrell of Dowagiac, along with a host of other family and friends including her loving dog IzzyPoo. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Her sister Rev. Pamela Obenland will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Peggy's memory to Berrien County Cancer Services at 7301 Red Arrow Highway; Stevensville, Michigan 49127.
