Obituary of Joanne Whelan

Joanne (Cupp) Whelan, 83, of School Street in Dowagiac, passed away peacefully at her home, on Thursday, September 8, 2011, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 6, 1927 in Benton Harbor to the late Joseph and Anna (Burk) Cupp.
On August 23, 1946 she married Leroy Franklin Whelan at a ceremony in St. Joseph.
Joanne worked for many years as a Switchboard operator. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Leroy Whelan Sr. of Dowagiac, two sons Micheal (Diane) Whelan of Traverse City, Michigan and Leroy F. (Nancy) Whelan Jr. of Hartford, Michigan, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and will be remembered by her family with a private service.
