Obituary of Eugene LeRoy Mikel

Eugene L. Mikel, 87, of Edwardsburg, was ushered from this world into the arms of his Savior on September 24, 2011. Eugene was born to the late Walter M. and Bertha (Hall) Mikel in Nappanee, Indiana. He served his country proudly as a medic in the United States Army. While serving he wed Norma E. (Sheets) on June 27, 1945. They shared 66 years of marriage, and their love continually grew. A kind and loving man, Eugene was a man who didn't have to tell people he was a Christian and went to church. His life was a living testimony, always generous; he gave of his time, his talents, and his living. His family fondly remembers his cheerful personality and his warm smile. Eugene was a hard working man, an outstanding provider. Up until very recently he would cut and deliver wood, a job he found much enjoyment in. Preceding Eugene in death are his parents, great-grandson Alan Jacob Mikel, his brother Stanley Mikel and his sister, Ferne Berger. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Norma, his three sons; Wayne (Tammy) Mikel of Plymouth, Indiana, Gerald (Kathy) Mikel of Edwardsburg, Devon (Sue) Mikel of Edwardsburg, his four daughters; Sharon (Ron) Pletcher of Edwardsburg, Janet Mikel of Niles, Esther Myers of Plymouth, Indiana and Marilyn (Randy) Bowman of Niles. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, sixteen, step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great grandchildren and a brother Lloyd Mikel of Elkhart, Indiana.
