Obituary of Walter Joseph Skalla

Walter Skalla, 86, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side.
Walter Skalla was born on July 11, 1925 to the late Walter and Catherine (Gradgio) Skalla.
In September of 1943 Walter enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country.
On July 3, 1958 Walter married the love of his life Helen (Budd) Skalla at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Skalla, John Skalla, and a sister Jean Wetmore.
Walter is survived by his wife, Helen Skalla of Niles, son Ralph D. Lugenbeal of Galveston, Indiana, daughter Peggy Lugenbeal of Galveston, Indiana, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Walter's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made in Walter's memory to the American Heart Association; 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
