Obituary of John Conrad Connors

John Conrad Connors, 80, of Niles, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. John was born on September 30, 1931 in Hubbell, Michigan to the late Raymond and Mary (Gleason) Connors. After graduating from high school John proudly served his country; during in the Korean Conflict era with the United States Marine Corp Military Police. On November 14, 1951 John married Janet Steinmetz and to this union was born four children. She preceded him in death in 1992. He began to work at National Standard and was a supervisor. John was an owner/operator for North American Van Lines and enjoyed traveling the country. Until last year John continued to work at Niles Precision. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, watching football, playing cards, puzzles, singing and dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. On October 4, 1994 John wed Christine (Slater) Connors at a ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings William "Billy" Connors, Beverly Wruck, Connie Leinonen, Anna Delf and Ruth Wisler. John is survived by his wife Christine of Niles, children; Janet Connors-Fedeli of Niles, John (Kathy) Connors Jr. of Niles, David (Deb) Connors of Kansas City, Missouri, Ray Connors of Cape Coral, Florida, Tracey (Craig) Worvey of Niles, Tina Lutz of Buchanan, Darcy (Blaine) Cronn of Cedar Springs, Michigan and Lisa Garritano of Niles, 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, siblings Katherine Payne of Niles, Ray (Evelyn) Connors Jr. of Niles, Doris Hemphill of Niles, Mary Lou (Donald) Hunt of Niles, Judy (Richard) Parker of Niles, and a host of extended family members. Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to Hospice at Home, located at 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085 or a charity of one's choice.
