Obituary of Richard Robert Campbell

Richard R. Campbell, 75, of Battle Creek, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Center in Battle Creek, surrounded by his family, after a brief but courageous illness. He was born on April 24, 1936 in Battle Creek to the late Russell and Pearl (Wright) Campbell. Richard served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for many years as a painter for Clark Equipment Company until his retirement. He enjoyed watching Tigers baseball, playing the lottery and spending time with his friends at Speed's. Richard was very generous and was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his grandchildren deeply and had a special bond with each of them. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; William and Ronald Campbell and two sisters; Ida Hill and Ruth Campbell. Richard is survived by two daughters; Angela Shook and Andrea (Jason) Force, a son Eric (Michelle) Campbell all of Battle Creek, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister Julia Holcomb. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with services beginning at 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Apostolic Church 13416 W. Michigan Ave. in Marshall. Military honors will be given on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Center 166 E. Goodale Ave. Battle Creek, Michigan 49037.
