Obituary of Theodore James Berkey

Theodore "Ted" James Berkey, 53, of Edwardsburg passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 after an unexpected illness at Lakeland Hospital, Niles. On September 7, 1958 Ted was born to Bruce and Ellen (Pennycuff) Berkey in Elkhart, Indiana. He found great pleasure when he was riding on his Harley, fishing, or listening to county music. However, Ted was happiest when he was surrounded by his family or friends. He is preceded in passing by his father Bruce Berkey. Ted is survived by his son, Bruce Berkey of Edwardsburg, his mother Ellen Elouise Berkey of Niles, two brothers, Michael "Louie" Lewis of Edwardsburg and Trevern Berkey of Granger, Indiana, three sisters; Melody (Tom) Vanzant of Niles, Fonda (Mike) Ford of Morganton, North Carolina and Thelma (Brian) Schrader of Granger. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of Ted may direct those to the family of Theodore Berkey, at Brown Funeral Home 521 East Main Street; Niles, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.
