Obituary of Eldon L. Gordon

Eldon L. Gordon, 76, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 24, 1935 in Bald Knob, Arkansas to William L. and Clara (Hart) Gordon. On July 19, 1957 Eldon married the love of his life, Peggy Wright in Hernando, Mississippi. Eldon was retired from Tyler Refrigeration, where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed many nights of bowling with his co-workers from Tyler. He also liked gardening, going to the casino, watching westerns and mostly spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Gregory Scot Gordon. Eldon is survived by his wife Peggy Gordon of Dowagiac, three daughters; Janice Henry of Niles, Diana Gordon of Altoona, Florida and Kathleen (Raymond) Orantowski of Edwardsburg, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother James Gordon and a sister Alice Marie Eligh both of Arkansas. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel 61453 M-51 in Niles, funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 14th, at 2:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Eldon's memory to Hospice at Home, Inc. 4025 Heath Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085 or to the American Cancer Society.
