Obituary of Chance Michael Huss
Chance Michael Huss, 42, of Niles, formerly of Dundee, passed away in Niles on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Chance was born on August 30, 1980 to Michael and Sherry (Langevin) Huss in Niles. After high school Chance worked as a landscaper and enjoyed the outdoors. He always looked forward to mushroom hunting season. Whether he was out fishing on area lakes and rivers, or making sure the current project he is working on gets finished, it was rare to find Chance inside. If you could ask his family, he was either hunting, fishing, or riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. Alongside him, would be his dogs because no matter what the situation was, they were along for the ride as well. He also cherished time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Even through his struggles, Chance was larger than life! If you knew him, you loved him. He had the biggest heart. Chance also has this smile that would brighten any room. In whatever adventure, he lived his life to the fullest. He had a kind and caring soul. He would randomly help someone cross a street if they were struggling. He would randomly give a homeless person an extra sandwich that he bought or a $20. On days when his money was slim, he would still scrape the change from his pockets to give it to someone. One time, he passed a homeless man on a street corner and he had a very thin jacket, so he went around the block and gave him a warmer coat that was in his car.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Narcisse and Eleanor Langevin and paternal grandparents; Roy Huss and Georgia Head.
Chance is survived by his parents, Michael Huss of Niles and Sherry (John) Miller of Dundee; step-mom, Doris Hutcheson of Niles; step-grandfather, Charles Head of Baldwin, Michigan; maternal biological grandmother, Yvonne O’Banion of South Bend; Paternal step-grandmother, Peggy Miller; siblings, Gina Kane of Niles, Nicole (Brian) Lindsley of Edwardsburg, Jason Langevin of Monroe, Michigan, Christina (John) Longenbarger of Ida, Michigan, Robert Miller of Chicago, Steven (Brenna) Miller of Arlington, Tennessee, Johnny (Tammy) Miller of Brooklyn, Michigan, and Tearah Hutcheson- (Justin) Kelley of Buchanan; aunts and uncles, Joe Huss, Terry Yabs, Bob and Alice Miller, Rick and Gloria Miller, Jim Miller, Bill and Sheila Miller, Ernie and Laurie Fisher, Tom and Kelly Miller, Penny and Ray Lavigne and Julie Fisher, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

His very last act of kindness was letting a friend get a room (while working the desk in a motel) during that brutal cold snap we had this past winter. The person did not have the money until morning. He took a chance because he could not turn this man out in the cold. That was unfortunately Chance's last night at work.
