Obituary of Pilar Konold

Maria del Pilar Konold, 65, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023, surrounded by her family at West Woods of Bridgman.

She was born in Parana’, Entre Rios, Argentina to the late Oscar Luis and Nelida Virginia (Ramirez) Martin.

In October of 1980 Pilar moved to the United States and on February 21, 1981 she married Gregory C. Konold at a ceremony in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pilar worked for many years operating a daycare for children and continued her love of caring for others by assisting residents at Brentwood of Niles until her retirement. She had a passion for cats, adopting many throughout her lifetime. Pilar enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, dancing, trips to casinos, drinking Mate’s and family vacations with her family to Florida. Pilar greatly loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kimberly Konold.

Pilar leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Gregory Konold of Niles; her sons, Kristopher (Melissa) Konold of Granger, Alex Konold of Mishawaka and Kevin Konold (Jennifer Bennett) of Buchanan; two grandchildren, Grayson and Beau as well as her siblings, Oscar and Gabriella Martin of Argentina.

A time of visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In keeping with her love for cats, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Pilar to Cass County Animal Shelter at 323 M-62, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
