Obituary of Dylan James Brattain

Dylan James Brattain, 28, of Niles, MI, passed away unexpectedly on January 31st, 2023. Family and friends are devastated by his death.

Dylan was born on February 6th, 1994 in Niles, MI to Tina Marston.

He attended Brandywine, and Niles Community schools. He then continued his education, graduating from Job Corp with a certificate in Welding, and Fabrication.

His hobbies included drawing, wood carving, fishing, kayaking, playing cards, board games, listening to music, and spending time with those he loved. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, NASCAR cars, and Ripley's Believe It or Not books.

Dylan was an outgoing, intense, and passionate person. He was an incredible and loving father, son, and brother. He had a passion for tinkering and figuring out how things worked. Even if it meant not putting it back together, so many tv remotes left futile. He was highly intelligent and was always determined to take on new challenges. He had a hard exterior but inside he was sentimental and loyal, he loved his family and friends more than anything in the world. 

He always wanted to help people even when he did not know how. Following his death, he became a hero to at least four families by becoming an organ donor. His tribute included the donation of his heart, liver, and both kidneys. 

He will be loved and missed by many and our memories with him will be cherished forever.   

Surviving family includes his mother and father, Tina Marston, and Charles Brattain. His wife, Kena Brattain; and their three children Laya, Jolene, and Tony; sisters, Courtney (Phil) Strukel, Sierra (Eric) Simpson, Cassie (Wayne) Beaird, Krystal Bunch, and Kori Bunch; grandfather James Marston; aunt Toni Harbin; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Dylan is preceded in death by his grandmother, Paula Marston; great grandparents, Carmella (Jack) Dalenberg, and D. Jean (Joseph) Marston.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St., Niles, MI 49120. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM.
