Obituary of Agnes Marie Bacon
Agnes M. Bacon, 86, of Niles, passed from this life, into eternity on Monday, December 26, 2022, peacefully in her sleep, at her residence in Niles.
On February 5, 1936, Agnes was born to the late Andrew and Cora Bell (Martin) Cosey in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
In 1962 at a ceremony in Dowagiac, Michigan, Agnes wed Richard G. Bacon, Jr. Agnes was a homemaker most of her life but worked for Du-Wel, Inc. for 13 years and a local cleaning service. She enjoyed planting flowers, working in her yard and mostly time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, always making all of them feel special. She was a woman of great faith and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles.
Preceding Agnes in death are her parents; her husband, Richard G. Bacon, Jr.; sons; Karl Michael Bacon and Albert Lee Bacon; sisters, Mae Belle Hill, Rosa Lee Carter and Lucille Starks; brothers, Otis, Andrew, Erwin, Donny and Ronny Cosey, grandsons Corey R. Betts, and Isaiah D. Bacon.
Agnes is survived by her children, Sylvia A. Brown, Patricia A. Betts, Willie M. Cosey, Terrie (Jesse) Miller, Randy L. (Juanita) Bacon, Sr., Donald P. Bacon, Reverend Bryant L. (Monica) Bacon, Sr., Richie A. Bacon, Robert Stephens Bacon; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Earl (Julia Mae) Cosey, Sr., Robert (Annie) Cosey, Sr., Dorothy Avance, Barbara Cosey-Burkley, Linda Cosey-Garrett and Deborah Griffin; along with an extended family and friends too numerous to mention as well as countless hearts she has touched.
Homegoing services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Noon at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry Street in Niles with her son, Rev. Bryant L. Bacon, Sr. will eulogize her, and Dr. Addis Moore of the Mt. Zion MBC of Kalamazoo will be officiating.
An interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
