Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Crane

Helen E. Crane, 91, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital in Watervliet.

She was born on February 27, 1931 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Fernando and Jenny (Holtz) Aviles.

She married Earnie Crane and he preceded her in death. Helen worked for a number of years at JCPenney and also in housekeeping. Helen never had children of her own but loved being around them and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was a flower gardener and looked forward to cookouts, traveling, shopping, bird watching and painting. She was actively involved in the Benton Harbor Senior Center and will be remembered for always having a servant’s heart and always giving of herself to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband as well as nine siblings.

Helen is survived by a sister Margaret (Jim) Gillette of St. Joseph, Michigan and a host of nieces and nephews and countless lives she has touched through the years.

A special thank you to Millie Williams from the Benton Harbor Senior Center for always helping and loving Helen, treating her as family member.

Her family will remember her at a graveside service in the spring of 2023 at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.
