Obituary of Helen Marie Casey

Helen Marie Casey, 80, of Dowagiac, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 11, 2022, with her family by her side.

Helen was born on December 19, 1941, to the late Harold J. and Mary Alice (Felner) Casey in Dowagiac.  After graduating from high school, Helen went on to attend Ferris State University.  She spent many years working for the State of Michigan until her retirement.  Helen was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dowagiac.

In her younger years Helen loved to travel and go to casinos, including several trips to Las Vegas.  She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Above all Helen loved every minute spent with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Casey; brother, Harold “Jim” Casey; and brother-in-law Jim Sayer.

Helen is survived by her sisters, Janet Sayer of Dowagiac, Jean Casey of Dowagiac; sister-in-law, B. Jean Casey of Dowagiac; niece and nephews, Jim (Tracy) Casey, Tom (Jean) Casey, Mike (Nancy) Sayer, Tim (Angie) Sayer, Lori (Tom) Bannow, Steve (Chantell) Casey, Jerry (Kelli) Casey; several great nieces and nephews; four special little great-grandnephews; and many extended family members and close friends.

A private Catholic Mass will be held and Helen will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
