Obituary of Patricia Jean Mead
Patricia J. Mead, 89, of Niles passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, at Hanson Hospice House in Stevensville.
Lyle and Helen (Rogers) Huss welcomed their baby girl into their home on a snow-covered day, January 22, 1933 in Niles, Michigan.
She graduated from Niles High School in 1951 and went on to further her education finishing business coursework to aid her in the banking industry. Just a couple of years out of high school, Patricia exchanged vows with the love of her life, Norman Mead at a ceremony on September 26, 1953. This proved to be one of the greatest love stories told. Norman and Patricia recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Patricia enjoyed her career in both in banking and also R&M Manufacturing, where she worked for over fifteen years. When not at work, Patricia looked forward to working her crossword puzzles, or searching for the next great find while shopping. She had a tender heart and loved all animals, especially her dachshunds, Cocoa and Dasha. Her children remember not only her delicious homemade cheesecakes, but are forever grateful for her devotion to not only them but to her entire family. The importance of family was not only instilled in them as they were children growing up but Patricia was a living example of love and devotion.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Lyle and Helen Huss, and her siblings; Willard Huss and Mary Story and her faithful companions, Cocoa and Dasha.
Surviving Patricia are her husband, Norman Mead of Niles, her children; Timothy (Diane) Mead of Niles, Jill (Timothy) Copsey of Sequim, Washington, and Candi (Michael) Clayton of Berrien Springs, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way, nephew, Bill (Christine) Huss of Greenville, Tennessee, Cheryl Huss and her children Kelsey and Riley.
Special thanks to Pam and Melba for helping Pat.
