Obituary of Charlene Marie Cooper

Please share a memory of Charlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charlene M. Cooper, 72, of Niles passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Lakeland Hospital.

She was born to the late Jim and Elsie (Martin) Hunt in Martinsville, Indiana on October 22, 1950.

By chance, Charlene was introduced to her husband during a chance meeting at the house of Delbert’s sister.  Soon after, Charlene and Delbert began courting and later married at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan on August 24, 1991.

Charlene and Delbert enjoyed over 30 years of marriage and together they traveled the country coast to coast in their RV enjoying many different sights, stopping along the way to see many famous sights, mountain peaks, rivers, and oceans.  Sometimes along the way they would stop and drop a line in to see what might grab their bait that day.  She would often go out of her way to help a stranger and her kindheartedness did not go unnoticed.

She is preceded in death by her parent, Jim and Elsie Hunt, and her sisters, Becky Burns and Margaret Johnson.

She is survived by her husband Delbert Cooper of Niles, her children, Eric (Pat) Schell of Indiana, Darla (Steve) Haley of Marcellus, grandson, Owen, two great-grandchildren, her step-daughter, Tonya Kubisiak, sisters, Cathy Forrester, Brenda Moore, Janie Townsend and Marylee Hunt.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honor of Charlene may do so to a charity of one’s choice.

In accordance to Charlene’s wishes cremation has taken place and her family will be remembering her privately.
