Obituary of Tom Phillip Duis

Thomas P. Duis, 60, of Charlotte North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, November 12^th, in Columbia South Carolina, after an extended illness.

 He was born to the late Donald and Geraldine Duis on January 27^th 1962 in Niles, Michigan.

Tom loved to play sports. He was very athletic and participated in several sports including football, baseball, basketball, and bowling.  Tom excelled in sports during high school, as the Brandywine Bobcats starting quarterback, and starting pitcher.  His accomplishments included playing in several divisional and state tournaments, as well as being selected to join the Babe Ruth Allstar Baseball team.

After graduating from high school, Tom continued following his passion for drafting, and attended Ferris State College mechanical engineering program.  Tom worked at many businesses in both the Niles and South Bend area including Kawneer and Bendix.

Tom also loved to visit Las Vegas.  He lived in Las Vegas for several years, and was known for his sports handicapping predictions.

Tom favorite sports teams were Notre Dame, Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Don and Geri Duis, and a brother, Donald R. Duis.

He is survived by his brother, Steven (Rhonda) Duis of North Carolina; and their sons, Zach Duis, Taylor Duis,

and Sam Duis, his niece, Jodee Duis, her three daughters; Alayna Duis, Alyson Williams, and Autumn

Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E.

Main St. Niles, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Tom will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Jay’s Lounge immediately following services at cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Tom’s honor may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 219 S. State St, Niles, or Amvets Post 1978, 1117 E. Bertrand, Niles.
