Obituary of Larry Gene Evans
Larry Gene Evans 72, of Niles, Michigan, transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, November 6, 2022, with his loving and devoted wife Patricia and family by his side.
He was born September 2, 1950, in Holland Missouri with the blessing of two incredibly loving and special mothers; Menthilee Jackson and Mozell Coleman. He moved to Greenville, Mississippi at a young age and always regarded Greenville as home. Larry moved to Niles, Michigan where he later met and married the loving Doris Mayo on April 8, 1972. After Doris passed away, he was abundantly blessed to find love again in his devoted and loving wife Patricia A. Martin on May 1, 1999.
Larry accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Hope Community Church where he and Patricia worshipped and were blessed to have an amazingly supportive church family.
Larry was a hard worker with a giving and generous heart. He retired from AEP as a Meter Electrician after more than 45 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Patricia, and their four children, Shannon (Gailey) Williams of South Bend, Indiana; Charles E. (Tiffany) Martin Jr of Atlanta, Georgia; Rodrick (Margery) Martin of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Jenell McGill of South Bend, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Lawrence Kariuki of Reno, Nevada; Lawren Kariuki of South Bend, Indiana; Lorra Kariuki of Houston, Texas; Ian and Andrew Williams both of South Bend, Indiana; Charles E. III, Courtney and Jenna Martin all of Atlanta, Georgia; Caremma Williams of Ocala, Florida; Rodrick Martin Jr of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Giovanni Jackson of Michigan City, Indiana; and Ashlynn Martin of Woodland Hills, California, one great-grandchild, Avien Williams of Ocala, Florida; five godchildren, Kenny and Andrew Wortham both of South Bend, Indiana; Jeremy Wortham of Niles, Michigan; Ashley Mayo of Florida; and Loretta Cisneros of South Bend, Indiana; three brothers, Robert (Queenie) Evans of Niles, Michigan; Timothy Evans of Atlanta, Georgia; and Troy (Sharon) Evans of Columbus, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were his mothers, Menthilee Jackson and Mozell Coleman, wife Doris Evans, daughter Lori Evans, brother Terry Evans and grandson Gabriel Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Hope Community Church, 2390 Lake St, Niles, with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
