Obituary of Paul Williams III

Paul Williams III, 56, of Dowagiac, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac.

He was born on March 24, 1966, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Paul and Barbara Williams Jr. He was raised by his grandmother, Geneva Hunter.

Paul graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1986. For years he worked at the bank then proceeded to coaching which he loved the most.

He enjoyed doing for others and was a monumental role model in the community. Paul was the founder and organizer of Small World and Hoops 4 Kids which ensured that members of the

community had the opportunity to be a part of something that he loved while making them feel like family. He coached youth basketball for many years, instilling in the young people around

him a sense of commitment, dedication, and hard work. Paul was the kind of man that made things happen.

A Homegoing celebration will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 30402 M62 W. in Dowagiac. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Geneva Hunter; nephews, Rickey Goss and JaRon Bonds.

Paul is survived by his children; Fredricka Woods, Dale Johnson, Breanna Berry, Kazmere Williams, siblings; Jeanette Perkins, Paula Driver, Kevin Williams, Ronald Douglas, Neal Douglas, Cristal (Vance) Brown, Myneke(Harry Mathews) Douglas

and Steve Williams, the mother of his youngest two children, Kristy Mahone; along with a host of extended family, friends too many to name, and a community who loved him.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the family in care of his daughter Kazmere or directly to Brown Funeral Home.
