Obituary of Steven Craig Harrell

Steven Craig Harrell, 71, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana.

He was born on August 20, 1951 in Niles, Michigan to the late Luther and Sara (Porsoska) Harrell.  

Steven was an avid collector of Budweiser Steins, but what truly caught his eye was anything that had a motor or engine. In his free time, if he wasn’t out riding his Harley, he would be in his garage breaking down whatever motor he got his hands on.  Often times the motors had parts left over or it wasn’t quite reconstructed, but Steven enjoyed the challenge nonetheless; and if he wasn’t tinkering with old motors, you could find him and Chuck either at a vintage steam engine or horse shows.  Steven found great enjoyment in raising his Clydesdale and Belgian horses and had a soft spot for his pet rottweilers.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, and sister Nancy Pugh.

Steven is survived by his partner Chuck Craig of Niles, siblings; Edgar (Nancy) Harrell, LuAnn Sarters, Becky (Gary) Nagy, Jim (Sheri) Harrell all of Niles and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.

A service to celebrate Stevens’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 521 E Main Street, Niles, Michigan, with a time of visitation two hours prior from 1-3 p.m.  Interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

As a Vietnam Veteran Steven served his country proudly, and was patriot at heart.  His friends and family will miss his calls and hugs.  He never missed an opportunity to let them know he loved them.
