Obituary of Aida Anglero

Please share a memory of Aida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Aida A. Anglero, 80, of Niles, gracefully passed away surrounded by her family on October 15, 2022.

On December 20, 1941, Aida was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to the late Domingo and Josefina (Mendez) Alvarez.

For those who had the pleasure of knowing Aida, they would remember her kind smile and her gift of generosity. She was always one who took care of others long before she did anything for herself, a selfless individual who had a soft spot in her heart for those who needed a little extra help. She was a loyal member of the Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle and was always happy to participate in cooking for their dinners and luncheons. Cooking was a passion of hers and her family members and friends were all able to enjoy her famous Chinese salad. She was thoughtful enough to share some of her secret recipes with her church family and those special recipes are kept safe in the church cookbook.

On September 4, 1960, Aida married the man that she would love and cherish for the rest of her life, Pedro Anglero Sr. The couple shared 62 years of faithful marriage, their union bringing them a son and a daughter. Their family tree grew throughout the years, eventually blessing them with five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She loved being a mother but the love she had for her grandchildren was extra special. Hosting on holidays and spending quality time with the people she loved were more important to her than anything else. She loved to crochet, making all of her family members something warm and cozy to have during the cold months. Aida always kept her faith at the core of her values and her actions reflected that. Serving her Lord to the best of her ability is what allowed her to have the warm smile, and comforting touch that only she had. She was a blessing to those who were fortunate enough to share time with her. She didn’t always need to go out to have fun but she did enjoy her bingo nights with her husband, and a competitive game of dominoes with those who dared challenge her. As she grew older, she never lost sight of her roots, visiting Puerto Rico with her husband whenever time allowed. Their trips to Navy Pier in Chicago were always memorable, even though she found the most comfort at home. Aida is an excellent example of what it means to be a loving, faithful individual, who put her God and family before anything else. Her presence here on earth will be sorely missed by her friends, family, and community.

Those welcoming Aida to her eternal home include the loving parents that raised her, Paco and Pura Morales; Domingo and Josefina (Mendez) Alvarez; brother, Domingo Alvarez; grandbabies, Baby Anglero and Baby Angel Hill; great-grandbaby, Baby Hill; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Pedro Anglero Sr.; children, Pedro (Katie) Anglero Jr. and Waleska Anglero; grandchildren, Tony (Bethany) Anglero, Samuel (Angela) Hill Jr., Derek Anglero, Spencer Anglero, and Amanda Anglero; great-grandchildren, Hailey Anglero, Jackson Anglero, Pailyn Anglero, Lennox Anglero, and Benson Anglero; a sister; a church family; as well as in-laws and friends.
